  Great quality Chisels for our workshop, I have always found Marples chisels take a fantastic razor edge, however I am reluctant to use any of my Marples chisels on rough site work as the blades can chip if your not careful due to the hardness of the steel.
  Also because the steel is so hard they can take longer to sharpen, but I don't mind because they do keep their edge!
  When they do get a little dull, a light stropping on some split grain veg tan leather and a dab of metal polish and they are restored to a razor edge again in seconds. obviously they do eventually need a full sharpen again but as long as there is no major blade damage it doesn't take as long as the initial honing.
  
  One thing I don't get though is people complaining that these Chisels don't come sharp?! Let me just clarify, because any chippy worth their salt knows! All chisels come from the factory pre ground with a 25' angle which then needs to be honed and taken to a 30' bevel and the back flattened off before you use them! It's a bit like buying a toaster then complaining that it doesn't toast... because you haven't plugged it in!
